World War II journalist Ernie Pyle described La Fonda's lobby this way: "You could go there any time of day and see a few artists in the bar ... a goateed nobleman from Austria, or a maharajah from India, or a New York broker ... You never met anybody anywhere except at La Fonda. You never took anybody to lunch anywhere else.
La Fonda is a Santa Fe landmark, just steps away from history and art museums, a wide variety of galleries and shopes, historic churches, and, of course, the Plaza. Our lobby is a hub of activity and full of interesting art and architectural features, as well as our beautiful La Plazuela restaurant.
Each of La Fonda's 167 rooms and suites is colorful and unique, featuring hand painted furniture and other artistic touches, from tile murals to whimsical wall accents. Some rooms have traditional vigas and latillas and others have fireplaces and private balconies.
In 1998, La Fonda completed La Terraza, a rooftop garden that features 14 private and quiet luxury rooms and suites. Special amenities include an outdoor hot tub, exercise room, "The Gathering Place" and an incredible banquet space that has become Santa Fe's premier site for weddings and parties
Our guests enjoy a variety of service and amenities including covered parking, concierge services, and a wide variety of shops in and around the lobby.
We also feature a brand new exercise facility, outdoor hot tub, massage services and a large heated outdoor swimming pool.
